The HAL (Heuristically-programmed ALgorithmic Computer) 9000 is a filthy NPC clanker, one of many more in the saga. He was created by NPC mad scientist and geneticist Znieh Ztrimhsnefood, in the town of Horni Police, Uranus. He was originally intended to be a virtual assistant and GPS to guide NPC astronauts on their journey to circumnavigate the known universe (or Dotar Surk, since he's essentially 80% of the universe) before the Freakers do.
He was set up on the Fresh Aire spaceship in 5728 by Dr. Rob Nerd and was just one of many tactics the NPCs used to compete against the Freakers on their quest to traverse the entire universe. However, what the NPCs didn't realize was that HAL is a very complex and complicated character and he's way too ambitious simply a virtual assistant.
