Wintale is a roleplaying game developed by Windows 108, serving as a parody of Undertale (no shit, sherlock) with a slight pinch of the Omniverse Saga in it. The demo was originally showcased in a live stream before being released a few weeks later.

Description

The demo, known as "WinTale", consists of only one of the many main areas. You play as SpongeBob SquarePants.

Easter Eggs

Debug-Exclusive

• One room features a massive floating eyeball that can't be interacted with. Attempting to leave the room crashes the game.

Taksukakatoo

• If the player doesn't tap "Z" during the first part of the game where SpongeBob has to get up after falling down, the game will call them out for this.
• A Weegee can be found at the very bottom right corner in the first room of the game. It can't be interacted with.
• If the game is modified to use debug mode and the player reaches the last room in the game without fighting Foo, Angela will also call them out for this.

  • As the Jerry of the game, Enrique has no attacks whatsoever and is hated by others if he appears with them in an encounter. He is always seen slowly licking an ice cream cone for some reason when he is encountered.

• Garfield
  • On a Freaky route, if the kill counter is exhausted before fighting Garfield, he will not be seen for the remainder of the run.

  • He can be found in Taksukakatoo's sewers if the player chooses to go there. He is required to be beaten if one wants to explore all of the game as he holds the keys to the Kaka City subarea.

Demo

The demo version of the game ends upon SpongeBob leaving Taksukakatoo. Different audio and visuals will accompany the game's logo on the credits screen depending on what route was taken:

NPC

A dialogue exchange between Dragon and Shimmer occurs, and the latter asks the player to make sure that they one day see the former's flying skills (by playing the full version).

Neutral

A credits screen is shown, but there's nothing of interest.

Freaky

Rather than the actual credits, red text that reads, "We've got more calls to make." will display.

Trivia

General/Miscellaneous

• There are a few differences between Wintale and the original Undertale.
  • Borders can be enabled on all platforms. While Undertale had this as well, it was only for the console versions.
  • Pressing the ESC key brings up a pause menu, where the settings can be changed quickly. This can also be used to exit to the main menu or close the game.
  • If the player doesn't move for some time, SpongeBob will eventually sit down on the ground.
  • All fights now have backgrounds of where the fight is happening. Some boss fights may not follow this and have their own unique background instead.
  • SpongeBob's icon can be seen to the left side of his name in fights.
  • Every time SpongeBob dies, in addition to his soul breaking as usual, an animation where he has a heart attack and collapses will play. After this happens, Angela is shown in the background.
  • After Foo gives the player a cell phone, she will also teach them the ability to run using "X". This is planned to be disabled in some sections of the full game to avoid making things too easy.
  • Armor can be seen on SpongeBob in the overworld.
  • A jingle plays when the Freaky route's requirements are met. When this happens, SpongeBob's eyes will be covered by a shadow and will permanently have his tongue out while his clothes and face are covered with blood.
    • A different jingle plays when the route is aborted. Likewise, SpongeBob's appearance returns to normal.
  • Luigi can be found in Taksukakatoo and will tell the player how much fun they're having by bringing up a percentage with the number of the FUN value as opposed to this never being mentioned at all in the game itself.
  • While falling is the same, sometimes a spinning animation can be seen when it happens.
