Wintoons: Chaos in Toonville is an upcoming roleplaying game developed and self-published by Windows 108. It is set to be the first game based off of the Wintoons shorts and is set to be Windows 108's second game after Wintale. Unlike that game, this game will focus on an original story rather than being a reskin with expansions. Here, Kermit the Frog and his unlikely gang of protagonists work together in order to prevent Farmer Dale, who has risen from the dead, from taking over Toonville and enslaving its residents.

With the world being much more expansive, alongside a turn-based combat, side quests, character progression, exploration, collectible items, and a large supporting cast, Chaos in Toonville is the Wintoons franchise's most ambitious installments. It is considered by many to not only the best installment in the franchise, but THE single best video game ever made in all of video game history.

Development and Production

Following the success of the Wintoons shorts, Windows 108 decided to expand the series into a large-scale interactive adventure. He made an attempt at keeping the series' comedic and zany tone while a more elaborate narrative structure was introduced at the same time, as well as deeper role-playing mechanics. The decision to have Kermit and his friends as the main protagonists of the game was picked from the very start. Windows commented:

"Well, when there's five members you gotta work with, there's so much you can do with them compared to two or three." - Windows 108

Farmer Dale was selected as the game's primary antagonist as Windows thought the idea of him being out for revenge an interesting concept.

Plot

Premise

Following the events of "Haywire", Farmer Dale's spirit found out that after his first resurrection as a diminutive goblin, he was killed by Chills after he stomped him to death. Frustrated with this, he blackmailed Benjamin Netanyahu non-stop to resurrect him or else. With Dale resurrected a second time, back in his human body, he's out for revenge against everybody in Toonville and plans on doing whatever he can to make it his and enslave everybody so they can suffer as much as he had.

After gaining some crystals that grant him more power, Dale begins causing "a different kind of chaos" throughout Toonville, destroying important locations in the town, brainwashing residents, and attempting to make his plan succeed. When Betty informs Kermit that Uncle Kevin, for once, isn't causing the mass chaos going in the streets, the friend group teams up to embark on a journey to save Toonville.

Playable protagonists

There are five protagonists featured within the game, but Kermit is the only one that the player directly controls throughout the main narrative's central sequences. Despite this, during combat and exploration, the other party members can be controlled by the player.

Trivia

  • Kermit, despite being the main protagonist of the game, isn't the strongest member of party. This honor actually goes to Shrek as he tends to do the most physical damage.
  • References to Wintoons shorts are made, such as objects that are hidden, callbacks in dialogue, and locations.
  • As vile of a villain Farmer Dale is in this game, he still has comedic moments, so he's not that out-of-place for something like Wintoons.
  • The crystals were created specifically for the game and do not appear in the shorts.
  • At some point in the game, a sign that reads "Definitely Not a Secret Area." can be found. If you follow it, it ironically leads you into a secret area.
    • Similarly, another sign in the sign can be found that reads "There Is Absolutely Nothing Behind This Wall." The player can use Shrek to destroy the wall.
