Sif is a non-existent board game that requires a chess set and deck of 52 cards (Uno is also compatible, but the rules are a bit different there).

It is often and only played by a self proclaimed master: Kyle.

Structure[edit | edit source]

Set up your pawns by placing all eight of each side on any of the respective highlighted tiles as seen on the right:

Once the set up is complete Players draw 6 cards from the face down deck.

Players can decide who goes first.

The goal of the game is to either wipe out all the pieces on the field or defeat the opponent's king.

Playing the Game (With a 54 Playing Card Deck)[edit | edit source]

Pawns can move in any direction, comparable to a king in chess.

After a player ends their even numbered turn, they draw 1 card from the deck.

When another piece occupies the same square as another piece, a battle commences. The sequence of the battle goes as follows:

The attacking player draws two cards and the defending player draws ones.

The attacking player plays a chosen card face down.

The defending player can then play one or more cards, face up, in return, or not and lose the piece. If retaliated, the attacker could then add to their play, when doing so, flip the face down card upright.

After this, the player can add in more cards at any time. Until the both of you agree to conclude the phase or are unable to play any more cards in the hand. (When a card is played onto the table, you cannot retract the card back to your hand.)

The victorious piece lives, whilst the loser is removed from play.

To win the battle, you must have a stronger hand as follows

Play Hierarchy[edit | edit source]

Amount of the same rank > Amount of the same suit > Higher total point value

Point Value of Cards:

Joker - 20, Ace - 15, King -13, Queen - 12, Jack - 11

Promotion[edit | edit source]

After you lose 2 pieces, you will gain the ability to promote your pawns into more valuable pieces, using your aces and face cards in your hand on the field, doing this costs a turn.

King can upgrade your pawn to King, Queen into Queen, obviously, Jack into either a knight or bishop, Ace into knight or rook, and Joker into any chess piece.

Knights can move just like they do in chess, and in combat they have + 15 points in addition Bishops are the same in movement, in combat they have +10 points and a matching suit to the played selection to the advantage.

Rooks are the same in movement, in combat they have +5 points and a matching rank to the played selection to the advantage.

Queens are the same in movement, in combat they have +10 points and a matching 2 more of a chosen suit to the played selection Kings in combat have +20 points and a matching 2 of rank and 2 of a chosen suit to the advantage.

Amount of the same rank > Amount of the same colour > Higher total point value

What the Special cards do in battle:

Reverse: Mimic the stats of the opponent's recently played card.

Skip: Negate the opponent's recently played card.

+2: 2 cards of nill number and value of the same colour featured on the card.

Wild Card: a card of nill number and value with any colour you wish.

Wild +4 Card: 4 cards of nill number and value of any colour you wish.

Wild +4 can upgrade your pawn to King, Wild into Queen, +2 into a Bishop, Skip into Knight and Reverse into rook. (You can also use the plus 2 or plus 4 cards to draw more cards from the deck outside of combat, respectively).
