Some ghost from Japan who's joined the monster mash gang in the early 2000s, now being associated with denizens of iconic monsters completely turned into a joke by pop culture, like Dracula, Frankenstein's monster, Freddy Kruger, and Mario. She is the fate of the most vehement vore haters. Look at her! She hobbles around and looks completely malnutritioned. All cuz she's a stinky vegan who thinks vore is disgusting. Interestingly enough, the monster we remember her as, is a product of an adaptation that surpasses her original tale. A rarity to behold indeed. So because of that I'm gonna go over her book's various adaptations and see how she's different in each one, cuz there's a lot of those and they are interesting. == The List of Different Depictions of Her On The Same Story == This list will only go through how she's depicted based on the story: Ring, originally by Koji Suzuki, this will not list her depictions in sequels or prequels such as Spiral, Ring 2 or that hilariously bad Dreamcast game that acts a sequel to the original film, based on the third book. There's still a few more that needs to be added in the future {| class="wikitable" |+ !Image !Adaptation !Chopped Up Description |-
The Original Novel (1990)
* Her ghost never makes an appearance throughout the book. She’s only seen through a photo recovered by Asakawa and Ryuji, only described as having “pretty eyes” by the protagonist. * Born on Oshima island. (This is true for every version of her that takes place in Japan.) * Her victims die from her own brand of small pox. * Her ancestry was involved with the major historical mystic figure; En No Ozuna, and his hidden technologies were supposedly the reason for her and her mother’s psychic powers. * She had a younger brother who died of infant mortality. * Her mum offed herself into a volcano (Mt. Mihara). Causing an eruption. (This is true for every version of her that takes place in Japan.) * Was a member of an acting troupe straight after leaving school. * Is a futa. * Her father developed tuberculosis and she went with him to the hospital, it was there when she raped and killed by Dr. Nagao for being intersex, being thrown down a well to rot and die after the assault, to add insult to injury, he infected her with small pox. |-
Ring Kanzenban (TV Movie) (1995)
* The baby looking bundle her ghost carries when she’s about to kill Ryuji is her curse taken manifestation, giving it to him and killing him. * Kills her victims through a heart attack. * Being ostracized by society for being intersex and a psychic is spelled out as her motivation to wipe out humanity. * Still a futa. * Still was a member of an acting troupe, only this time she had a bf. * Did her dad. * Was somehow in a relationship with Dr. Nagao, who Walter Whited her near the well, got freaked out seeing her boner, prompting her to outright attempting to kill him through using psychic powers to give him cardiac arrest. He still survives and kills her by throwing her down the well.
Yeah this is even more fucked up and tasteless than the book somehow, and the original book had a lot of needless sexualization.
Ringu (Theatrical Film) (1998)
* The one who set the standard on who she is now in pop culture. * Crawls out of tellys and kills inexplicably people into petrification. * Makes witnesses of the victims dying go mad. * Stalks her victims in the real world as a shadow. * Makes metal scraping noises. * Makes phone calls with you after you watch the tape, and when times up, only to give you scraping noises on the other end. * Never speaks a word. * We never see her face, only her left eye. * Stares and hobbles at her victims MENACINGLY! * Just wants to watch the world burn. * Her dad killed her, this time he hit her over the head which lead her tumbling down the well like some looney toons skit. |-
American Film Adaptation
(2002)
* Kid named Samora Morgan. * Based off the theatrical film. * We see an exaggeration of how twisted her dead victims looked. * Looks super pissed off. * The only version who actually looks like she crawled out of a well. * Got killed off by her mother for being a bastard child. * Anti-horse girl. * She's got super speed. |-
BBC Fright Night Radio Drama Adaptation (2015)
* Described to be as pretty as a yuki-onna (snow ghost woman, go figure), by some old lady. * Whispers and commands the protagonist (this time a Britbong immigrant named Mitchel) into duping him to spreading her virus/curse like she’s his schizophrenia. * Makes phone calls like the movie versions. * Kills her victims via heart attack. * Had a hobby of swimming in the sea naked in the moonlight, before moving to Tokyo, teasing boys, and even killed one when he managed to reach her, larping like she was some siren. |} <references />
